Before your basement construction begins you have to decide which areas are going to be used for what activities. Shamrock Construction will assist you in the design process. Sometimes adding an angled corner will help the flow of traffic and this would be done before your basement construction begins when we lay out the wall lines on the floor for you to see. When we start the process of your basement construction we organize and sweep every day. We are aware the customer is excited to see the progress and a neat work area is as important to our customer as it is to us during the basement construction.
Your basement is designed with close attention to detail. Straighter walls can be ensured through the use of metal studs. The bulkhead and corners are square and plumb. Our framing layout is based on 16” centers unlike many contractors who put their studs on 24” centers. We also brace our metal studs every 4’ or more to add more support to the walls. This is very important in the basement construction process. This helps the drywall from appearing wavy due to the spacing of the metal studs. When we hang and finish your drywall we screw and glue each piece of sheetrock. The sheetrock we use in the main part of your basement is ½” regular board and ½” moisture resistant sheetrock in the bathroom. We also use Durock or something comparable such as a backer board for ceramic tile or porcelain tile. What really sets your basement apart from your neighbors is the paint color you select. We use mainly Sherwin Williams products. The results can be stunning in a basement. Your door style, molding profile and added touches will reflect the rest of your home. Crown molding can transform your basement from a basement to a custom clubroom. Basement construction must start out with a good foundation. |
