Shamrock Construction is considered the #1 Basement Contractor in Harford County and Baltimore County and informs and teaches all potential customers of various products that a basement contractor should be using.

Adding light, whether it is natural or artificial, can make a significant difference in your basement's overall feel. Since basements tend to be dark and gloomy, adding light should be your first step. If part of your basement is above ground, take advantage of this by having as many windows as possible. You should let in natural light wherever possible so look for simple window treatment.

Typically, basement ceilings are low, so that you get the feeling you're in a cave. To offset this, use indirect lighting that splashes large pools of light on the ceiling. This will open up the space and make rooms appear higher than they are. A mix of this up-lighting and traditional recessed lighting will give you the flexibility you need to create a variety of lighting moods. The recessed lights we use as a basement contractor are a better quality light than a handyman usually buys from a big discount store. We install hundreds of recessed lights a year. All of our recessed lights are automatically on dimmers. This basement contractor does not come back at the end of the job and charge you extra for dimmers or a quality light.

Mirrors, mounted on the walls or even ceilings, can also amplify and reinforce lighting effects.
When natural light isn't an option, artificial light can be used abundantly to create a warm atmosphere. No fluorescent light please! (While fluorescent lighting is very cost effective and energy efficient, it is not the most appealing option speaking in terms of design.) Table and floor lamps work well and some ceiling lighting can be used also.

Shamrock Construction by being a basement contractor installs a bathroom in just about every basement. This is a great way to add value to your home and improve your enjoyment of your current basement space. More and more people are seeking to turn the basements in their homes into usable, livable space in which family and friends can gather and enjoy their time together. Installing bathroom in basement makes this a much more enjoyable proposition as family and visitors do not have to go upstairs during those moments of need. As with the electric this basement contractor doesn’t try to save a couple of pennies by buying products from a discount store. This can cause problems. There are open boxes, pieces missing and generally not the same quality products a good basement contractor should use.

We have accounts with companies in Bel Air, Harford County who supply us with such products as Moen, and Progress just to name a few. We have decided that Bel Air Md. is a great location for most of our customers and there is also a showroom to look at other products.
When you label yourself as a Basement Contractor you should use fixtures and material that are suitable for basement conditions. Basements are more likely to have a higher rate of moisture in the air. The right insulation, and the use of metal studs are all part of avoiding long term problems and a good basement contractor can explain this.
